Since May 1993, Lelan has worked in Nashville as the senior meteorologist and co-host of Talk of the Town at NewsChannel 5. He previously spent three years as a weekend weather anchor and reporter at WCYB in Bristol.
He began his broadcasting career as a meteorologist at WVLT, which was previously known as WTVK-TV in Knoxville. Lelan later left the station and went to work for WATE-TV as a weather anchor. While in Knoxville, he worked as a photojournalist, tape editor, weekend assignment editor, and producer, among other things.
