She quickly became immersed in the community as a reporter and as a city resident before moving to Syracuse to pursue her master’s degree in journalism at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.
While attending graduate school, she worked as an editor for Eagle Newspapers. Farah was reported in Syracuse’s northern suburbs as well as Madison County. She assisted in the launch of Syracuse Woman Magazine in 2011, the area’s first and only award-winning women’s publication. For over four years, she was the managing editor of SWM, where she reported on women’s health, education, politics, culture, and business.
