David Akin is a well-known Canadian journalist currently serving at Global News as the chief political correspondent. He commenced his journalism career in 1993 after he joined Times and The Packet in Orillia, Ontario, as the paper’s city hall reporter.  He later joined The Chronicle Journal in Thunder Bay in 1995.

While there, David served as a senior reporter prior to joining The Hamilton Spectator. Also, he served at the National Post prior to joining Mail and The Globe. From 2001 to 2008, he worked as a parliamentary correspondent for CTV News. He later worked as a national affairs correspondent for Canwest News Service.
